The district administration and the District Tourism Promotion Council will organise a six-day-long Onam fest from August 25 to 31 here. The fest, named ‘Lavanya’, will have exhibitions, dance and music programmes which will be held in three venues.
In a press conference here, District Collector Sheik Pareeth said that the cultural fest will be inaugurated by Chief Minster Oommen Chandy at the Marine Drive on August 25. The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony will be a South African official. The programmes will be held at the Marine Drive ground, Durbar Hall ground and the Kerala History Museum.
The theatre festival will be held at the Durbar Hall ground and the entertainment programmes at Marine Drive. The Kerala History Museum will be the venue for literary programmes and photo exhibitions. Renowned dancers, musicians and film actors will take part in the various programmes.
As part of the Ramzan celebrations, the district administration will hold a cultural feast named ‘Milan’ at the Marine Drive ground on Tuesday. Hibi Eden MLA, Deputy Mayor B Bhadra, GCDA chairman N Venugopal and Health Standing Committee chairman T K Asraf took part in the press conference.
