HYDERABAD: Small industries in and around Hyderabad might shut shop for two days from Monday, following a bandh call given by The Telangana Industrialists' Federation in support of the Sakala Janula Samme. The call might not affect medium and big industries with the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry making it clear it was not supporting the bandh.
According to TIF leaders, nearly 10,000 small and medium industrial units are located in 15 industrial estates in and around Hyderabad. A few units are also located in Khamamm, Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Rangareddy and Medak district. However, only about 2,000 industries are members of the TIF. TIF president R Sudheer Reddy claimed that work in public sector organisations like BHEL, ECIL and HMT might be affected as they were dependent on auxiliary industries, which are members of the organisation. He said the Nizamabad beedi factories will also take part in the twoday bandh.Meanwhile, the FAPCII has made it clear it has nothing to do with the industries' bandh called by the TIF. In a statement here on Sunday, FAPCCI president VS Raju said they have always opposed bandhs of any nature. "The larger body of our membership is well aware that we have always advocated against bandhs," he added.

"Since the FAPCCI is an apolitical organisation and its avowed policy has been to stay away from political affiliations or alliances, obstruction to right to work and bandh calls, we oppose the bandh call given by the TIF," Raju said.

"Whenever a bandh is called, it entails loss of production, dislocation of supply chain and loss of investors' confidence followed by hardships for employees," VS Raju said.
