Catalyse, in partnership with Mars One, launched the Asian Space Challenge 2012 recently. This is following the successful Space Habitat Design Challenge 2011, which had more than 200 teams from over 100 schools across India participating.

The Asian Space Challenge 2012 (first conceived as the Space Habitat Design Challenge in 2011 by Catalyse), is an opportunity for young students to join the Global Space Race. The first--of--its - kind challenge invites students between classes 8 and 12 to envision life for humans in space.

The contest comprises two components - the Space Habitat Design Challenge – Mission Mars, in which students are invited to develop a solution for long term and sustainable housing on Mars and  Space Apps Challenge – Planet Comparator App,  where students are invited to develop smartphone apps on Space using NASA data.

Kiran Bhandari, founder, Catalyse said, “This challenge is made possible with the support of partners, including Mars One – who recently announced a plan for a human settlement on Mars, and NASA who is providing us data support for the Space Apps Challenge.
