MADURAI: A two-member medical team from Chennai arrived at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH), on Sunday, to examine a woman who slipped into coma when she was wrongly administered nitrous oxide while undergoing a family planning operation in Kanyakumari Government Medical College Hospital, Nagercoil, some months ago.It may be recalled that P Rukmani (34), wife of Ganesan of Chembankarai in Kanyakumari district, had been admitted to the KGMH on March 18, 2011 for a family planning surgery. But she was wrongly administered nitrous oxide instead of oxygen.Since then the patient has slipped into coma.As the treatment provided to her at GRH failed and a case was filed at the Madurai Bench of the High Court, the court ordered that the patient be provided with the latest treatment and asked for a team from Chennai to examine her.
