KOCHI/KOZHIKODE: The factional feud in the Kozhikode District Cricket Association took a dramatic turn on Saturday with a breakaway faction installing a new secretary and treasurer even as the Kerala Cricket Association warned the rebel group of disciplinary steps, if they deviated from the KCA’s by-law.In Kozhikode, the KDCA general body meeting, led by president P Sathish Chandran removed the incumbent secretary, Sanil Chandran, and treasurer K Sathish and selected M V Shreyamskumar MLA and M Sudheer instead.  The dismissal followed allegations of misappropriation of funds and flawed decisions during their tenure, said the KDCA president in a press release. Of the 39 members, 26 attended the meeting and they were unanimous in the decision. In a special general body meeting at the JN Stadium in Kochi, the KCA constituted a seven-member disciplinary committee to monitor the functioning of its Kozhikode affiliate. KCA secretary T C Mathew said that the district association had been ridden with groupism for the past one year. “The KCA general body is of the opinion that strict action should be taken against those failing to abide by the association’s by-law. The members of the group holding meetings illegally have an opportunity to reform themselves. If not, the KCA will set things right,” he said.
