Gone are the days when apples remained mere fruits. After Isaac Newton, there came another man, who made Apple a symbol of progress and innovation. What started as a project in his garage with a friend, is now the second largest company in the world.Life is a roller-coaster ride for most of us. But, for Jobs it was like floating in zero gravity.Even after people learnt the fact that Steve Jobs was battling pancreatic cancer for quite a while, his death did shake the world. People took over social networking websites to mourn his death and smashed all the internet records with a record 10,000 tweets per second, which is likely to rise further.iGenerationThe advent of Apple products changed the face of mobile phones all over the globe. From desktop to phones and tablets with an “i” in everything started becoming a rage. From iTunes to iPhone, iPad and in a short while with the iCloud. India has also been a strong follower of Apple products, with people using them for various purposes --- from business to entertainment and just about anything. One such person who uses his iPad to make work easier is Ashis Pahi, director of Kalanirvana International Art Center. He says, “It is like a mini computer and accessible from anywhere. It is like my mobile office. And its ability to connect with any one from any where with great connectivity is simply amazing.” He further adds, “The applications on photo gallery and the camera are editable and one can send the pictures directly to an email and even upload it on Facebook. It helps in faster communication.”There are also many IT companies in the city that develop applications and games for the iPhone and iPad. Catering to the similar objective is Purple Talk, an IT firm based in Hyderabad.Elaborating on the same, the co-founder and chief operating officer of [x]cube labs, a division of Purple Talk says, “iPhone revolutionised the way people looked at and interacted with their phones. It made people believe in what can be achieved with a “touch”. iPhones have replaced the bulky laptops and hand held gaming gadgets. Now we have a single device and everything is sorted.” He further adds, “Many look-alikes have cropped up in the last three years but iPhone is still a dominant force in smartphone market and is a “gold-standard” to compare other devices with.”Talking about the iPhone applications and games developed by them, he says, “[x]cubeLabs saw immense potential in mobile computing with the launch of iPhone and AppStore. We develop games for Apple in association with Fortune500 and other mobile gaming companies like TapJoy, GE, Pocket Gems, Intel and Hasbro. On Steve Jobs, he says, “Steve Jobs simply built gadgets that he himself wanted --- and he simply knew that we’d all want them too. And when it comes to the applications, there are umpteen number of them.An employee of Purple Talk, Sachindra Pandey, says, “Apple has been among the first ones to come up with multi-touch technology for mobile phones — the first one to launch an online store for third party application, and also the first one to come up with the concept of tablets. The iPhone devices were the first to implement new innovative features like gyroscope, accelerometer, retina display and many more such features.” And about its reach, he adds, “Today we have almost 500,000 applications on the Apple store with almost 18 billion downloads already.”Another i-follower, Abhishek Ponia, Globosport, assistant manager, business development says, “He converted the world into an iworld, a world we never imagined of, a world which delivered dreams to the customers rather than products, a world no one could avoid, a world which changed the world forever.”
