HYDERABAD: Indicating the Centre may take more time to take any decision on the Telangana statehood demand, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said it may be difficult even for the Central government to take a decision amidst prevailing tense situation in the state.Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Reddy described the statehood demand as “sensitive and complex” and said the Centre was taking the opinions of all people concerned and looking into all angles before coming to a conclusion.“The Centre is eliciting the opinions of all in order to take a decision, which reflects the opinions of all.Consultations are going on and it will take some time.I appeal to the government staff to call off their strike as they have made their point.Being part of the society they live in, the staff are participating in the strike. But, as partners of the government, they also have the responsibility of seeing that welfare programmes reach the people,” the chief minister said.As the Telangana youth dream that a separate state would bring them jobs, the government is luring them with government and private jobs. The chief minister wanted the agitators not to spoil the job prospects of the youth. The government has decided to notify before the end of the year recruitment of 1.16 lakh jobs in various government departments.“The finance department has already gave clearance for 30,000 jobs.Financial clearance for another 22,000 jobs will be given soon.We have already directed the officials to issue notifications by December end.Besides, another one lakh jobs will be created in the private sector under the Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu scheme. If the recruitment process is postponed, it will spoil the prospects of the youth,’’ he cautioned. The result of the written examination for recruitment of SIs was announced within one month and their training was in already in progress.“Around 600 youths who were selected as SIs belong to Telangana.Of them, 100 are from Osmania University.Around 4.5 lakh students are eagerly waiting to take the Group-2 examination.I appeal to the agitators not to come in the way of recruitment, when the youths are getting employment matching their educational qualification.” The National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was also affected in the region and lakhs of workers were rendered jobless.
