HYDERABAD: The circulation of certain objectionable photographs about a community through MMS by a group of students of St.Xavier Francis Degree College located at Barkatpura led to clashes between two student groups on Wednesday.Later, the college authorities identified the students and suspended them from college. Tension prevailed when two groups of students belonging to St.Xavier Francis Degree College in Barkatpura clashed over the issue of insulting religious sentiments of a particular community.Based on the complaint lodged by the college management, police booked cases under the Information Technology Act against two students.According to Kacheguda police, two BCom first year students of the college had downloaded provocative photographs from the Facebook.Students from the other community got to know about the photographs and soon both groups ended up having a heated argument.As the students from both the groups started calling up their friends, a mob started gathering in front of the college building at Barkatpura Chaman and police rushed to the spot.Cops resorted to minor lathicharge to chase away the mob.Later during the day, a complaint was lodged by the college principal and the case was registered under section 66 of the IT Act against the two students.In the evening, the case was transferred to CCS police and they took over the investigation.While the students were arrested, the principal issued TC to them for trying to create hatred between the two sections.
