Sub-registrar offices raided, 4 held

BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police on Friday raided four sub-registrar offices in the city, and arrested four subregistrars and agents following complaints about irregularities in the offices. The Lokayukta police raided Nagarabhavi, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Banashankari and Shivajinagar sub-registrar offices at around 4.30 pm on Friday and recovered about Rs 1. 25 lakh from the four officers.Under the supervision of Lokayukta SP Shivashankar, DySPs S Girish Abdul Ahad, Prasanna Raju and Palakshiah seized documents and arrested Nagarabhavi subregistrars S Dinesh and recovered Rs 62,000 from his office. Then, the police recovered Rs 40,000 from Jayanna, Rajarajeshwarinagar sub-registrar. Later, the Lokayukta team raided Shivajinagar subregistrar office and arrested Shankaramma. They recovered Rs 12,000 from Shankaramma. Banashankari sub-registrar Shankregowda was arrested later and Rs 10,000 was recovered from his office. The Lokayukta team also arrested a few agents on the sub-registrar office premises.
