Kabul: Two Indian engineers were killed and three wounded in a suicide bombing attack Saturday in Afghanistan's southwestern province of Nimroz, the governor of the province Ghulam Dastgir Azad said.
MEA sources have identified the two engineers as M P Singh and C Govindaswamy. Five Indians have been admitted to hospital in Delaram.
A suicide bomber blew himself up Saturday close to a spot where an Indian road construction firm was working in Nimroz province, a press release of the Interior Ministry issued here said. However, it did not mention the death of the Indian engineers.
"The terrorist blew himself up, injuring five people while they were working on a road in Khashrod district," the statement said.
The suicide bomber was killed in the incident. The nationality of the bomber has not been identified so far. No group or individuals have claimed responsibility for the attack.
On Wednesday, Taliban insurgents carried out attacks against another foreign road construction company, killing and injuring 33 in southern Afghanistan.
More than 360 people have been killed so far this year in Taliban-related violence in war-torn Afghanistan.
The Taliban militants recently vowed to launch a "spring offensive" to intensify their guerrilla-style attacks on the national army and foreign troops.
