Mumbai: Three suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, who were arrested in Mumbai earlier this month, will be taken to Kashmir on Saturday.

The three men --Khursheed Ahmed Lone, Haji Mohammed Ramzan and Arshad Hussain Badru -- arrested in Mumbai on charges of planning to carry out bomb blasts had been in custody of the Anti-Terrorist Squad. (ATS)

The Mazgaon court has permitted the Jammu and Kashmir Police to interrogate the men for a period of 14 days in connection with the killing of a CRPF jawan.

While the men dread the very thought of being taken to Srinagar, the defense council Shahid Azmi said, "Srinagar police has a history of custodial torture and maybe that’s why they are scared of going there."

But their lawyer alleges, even here in Mumbai, the police have been over-stepping the line.

"They were arrested on December 31, along with two other men and then held illegally for six days. The two other men were never presented in court and are untraceable," Azmi said.

But the Anti-Terrorist Squad flatly denies this and says that they have been going by the book.
