Rajkot: One suspected case of H1N1 Influenza A has been reported from Rajkot in Gujarat.

The suspected patient exhibited the symptoms of swine flu after his arrival in India from Malaysia, where he had been on a business trip.

The person has been admitted to a private hospital in rajkot with symptoms of viral infection on Monday evening, Dr Chirag Matravadia, attending the patient, said on Tuesday.

''We do not want to take any chance and blood samples of the patient have been sent to Delhi. The patient has also been shifted to an isolated ward,'' Dr Chirag said.

Though he admitted that there are very remote chances of swine flu but exact cause of the fever only be known after the blood sample report, which is expected by Tuesday evening.

Rajkot Municipal Health Officer MN Bhanderi, too, confirmed about the suspected swine flu case and said that the patient's blood sample has been sent to Delhi.

A medical team has started conducting a survey of the area, where the patient resides, to detect people with similar symptoms and check the spread, Bhanderi said.
