THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Having spent the morning hours battling the hectic schedule at workplace, who prefers to toil late into the evening cooking food in the kitchen? Or is there a need to wait for long at a cozy restaurant for the favourite dish to get prepared and be served.  There is no chance for a second thought to crop up in mind when the takeaway eateries provide you with your favourite dishes in the blink of an eye in exchange of some fair bucks. Even families these days prefer to just  ‘take away’ sumptuous food with appetizing aroma and great taste. The eateries these days have turned quite a fad in the city owing to so many reasons.  Be it the ‘naadan’ Chettinad chicken and ‘parotta’ or ‘biriyani’ and butter chicken, all have ardent fans among customers. Busy life, easy access and a search for variety all add for the liking. Harilal S has come to ‘Home Kitchen’ at Sasthamangalam to take a side dish home, for, both his wife and him are working.   Whereas, Balachandran Nair has rushed to the takeaway next door to treat the guests who have paid a visit to his home in the evening. “My wife and I are retired employees. It is not easy for us to talk to the guests and prepare food for them in the kitchen at the same time. And who gets a servant to prepare sumptuous dishes to treat your guests these days?,” he asks.     According to Sreejith A, one of the partners of ‘Home Kitchen’, “For many, there always exists an inclination towards homely food. Here, many demand homely varieties. A majority drop in when they seek a change from the regular menu or when they return home after a long distance trip or so. Maybe because of that, we have not found any regular customers so far.”  Even price does not matter much for taking back home their favourite item. “People are willing to pay any amount once they find tasty food out here”, Sreejith adds.  Says Anees of the takeaway counter of Sindhoor Express at Sasthamangalam: “Variety adds spice to their preference. Even Chinese, North Indian and Tandoori dishes have takers here.” It turns true when Sheenet Suresh, a homemaker from the city, too admits to the fact. “I cook food at home, but my son would fall head over heels for the mouth-watering dishes here.”  And what adds to the significant taste at these places? O K Khalid at Sindhoor Express says: “It depends on the way we prepare food.” The counter is open from 4 pm to 11 pm.
