An awareness workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights for Seafood Industry’ was organised by the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises - Development Institute (MSME-DI), Thrissur in association with the Zonal Technology Management Centre, Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT) and Industrial Fisheries Alumni Association (IFAA) in Kochi. The workshop was aimed at assisting entrepreneurs in the fisheries sector to create awareness on the use of the Intellectual Property system.
Dominic Presentation MLA inaugurated the initiative in which over 100 people from the Seafood Industry attended. Dominic Presentation stressed the need for proper dissemination of results of research institutions to the public in the context of IPR issues.
Savyasachi Panikkassery, director, MSME-DI presided over the function.
T K Srinivasa Gopal, director, CIFT Kochi, suggested for an ‘Innovation Award’ in the seafood industry. IFAA president Edwin Joseph pointed out that there is a steady increase in patenting of fish-related aspects.
