Taxi drivers in Tirupati call off stir

TIRUPATI: Taxi drivers in Tirupati called off their agitation on Friday evening, after receiving a message from Tirupati MLA K Chiranjeevi that chief minister had asked the TTD officials to maintain status quo on the issue.“We are happy that the issue has been given a serious thought and a first step has been taken in the right direction,’’ K Lakshmi Prasad, a taxi driver, said. “We have asked all our cab drivers to abide by rules, sport uniform and carry the required documents and give no scope for complaints,’’ M Venkataramana, president of Siddhivinayaka Taxi Drivers Welfare Association said.
