Teen kid launches music CDs

CHENNAI: Releasing four music CDs after having been in the field of music for over 10 years might not sound like a big deal. However,  what might astound you is that the musician, K Sathyanarayanan, whose music is set to reach a wider audience through CDs, is just a 16-year-old. Exponents in the field of carnatic music such as percussionist Umayalpuram K Sivaraman and violinist M Chandrasekan released the CD titled Ragamalika, Madhuram, Sukhanubhavam and Manoharam on Saturday at Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Mylapore. Congratulating Sathyanarayanan on his achievement, Chandrasekaran said, he predicted  Sathyanarayanan’s success a decade ago. Isai Mazhalai Ramji, who released one of the CDs, said, Sathyanarayanan was the only child who had cleared eight grades of music before turning 10. He also recollected the time when Sathyanarayanan was felicitated after he returned with the Pogo Child Prodigy award. A Natarajan, former director of Doordarshan, said, Carnatic music accepted instruments from other regions if they complied with the music form.
