New Delhi: Amid protests in Seemandhra region against bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, a meeting of the State Congress Co-ordination Committee chaired by the AICC State affairs in-charge Digvijaya Singh was held on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Rajanarasimha and other party leaders from the state, sources said. "We discussed about the state party affairs, besides forthcoming elections," sources said.

They said the Congress Working Committee decision on creation of Telangana would be implemented.

Reddy had a few days ago written to the Centre to follow established practices and conventions and refer the bifurcation issue to the state assembly for appropriate resolution.

In a three-page letter addressed separately to President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Chief Minister had also urged the Centre to initiate steps to bring peace and harmony as well as create a congenial atmosphere before initiating any further steps on the Union Cabinet's

decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Chief Minister Reddy, accompanied by State and Union Ministers, would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday seeking a relief package for the districts hit by recent rains and floods in Andhra

Pradesh.
