Mumbai: The 5th Indian Television Academy awards were held in Mumbai on Monday night.
A total of 46 channels participated in the awards that was organised to honour some of the television?s best.
Togged up in designer wear, and looking just about as glamourous, the TV actors proved they were no less than the film-stars in the way of star power.
Speaking on the revival of the small screen, actor, Shama Sikander says, "I remember that until a couple of years back, people used to look down upon the artists of the small screen. But the perception of the people is changing now. A lot of film actors are also coming to television."
And though this screen migration might be a good thing for some, it comes with a fair share of apprehensions, for others.
Actress Meeta Vashisht says, "A lot of films stars except for Mr. B have not worked for the television. I think their persona is fit only for the small screen."
There was an air of nostalgia as the veteran actors Asha Parekh, Maushmi Chatterji, Reena Roy and Aruna Irani descended the stage to mark the closing of the event.
The screen goddess of the yesteryears, Maushmi Chatterji says, "It feels nice to see the people I worked with for so long."
Amongst the winners at the tele-awards were Satish Shah, who won an award for his comic timing in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Sudha Chandran and Makarand Deshpande who bagged the title of the best negative charcters on the small screen.
