New Delhi: Hema Malini would not have the slightest idea that the protagonist of her directorial debut 'Dil Aashna Hai' will one day turn into her rival. Hema Malini is among the first teachers of Shah Rukh Khan who taught the young and ambitious actor the profound nuances of screen acting. Today Khan's hugely promoted 'RA.One' is expected to fetch the potential audiences of 'Tell Me O Kkhuda.
Always a sincere pupil Shah Rukh grabbed whatever chances came his way with both hands and has become one of the most sought after persons of the Hindi film industry. Hema Malini did not stop either. She tried her hands at everything from dirty political business to producing films but it took her almost 19 years to direct her second film.
Her film 'Tell Me O Kkhuda' is scheduled to be released on October 27, an unconventional day, one day after the festival of lights and crackers.
The film revolves around an aspiring writer Tanya (Esha Deol) who despite being modern in approach believes in preserving the age old traditions.
One day the lovely little girl inside Tanya's heart decides to search for her actual roots. The quest takes Tanya to unknown lands where her only companion is Jai (Arjan Bajwa), who not only lives life to the fullest but also inspires others to do so. A photographer by profession Jai is Tanya's most trusted ally.
Jai and Tanya also have a third friend in the shape of Kuki (Chandan Roy Sanyal) who is impulsive but lovable.
The journey takes Tanya and her gang to the den of a dreaded mafia Anthony (Dharmendra) who gets fascinated by their courageous endeavour.
The story also has Altaf Zardari (Rishi Kapoor) as one of the pivotal characters whose marital life is up for a toss. Tanya brings hope and happiness to Zardari's life.
Vinod Khanna and Farooq Sheikh are also playing interesting characters in the film. The collaboration of yesteryears' stars will be the highlight of the film. These stars were never out of the sight as they kept appearing in films but so many good actors together will certainly benefit 'Tell Me O Kkhuda' in getting a good opening response.
Widely publicized as Esha Deol's comeback film, 'Tell Me O Kkhuda' seems to be honest and well grounded in its central theme which explores about the hopes and despair of a girl who dares to break the comfortable cocoon in order to understand the harsh realities of life.
Hema Malini's last film 'Dil Aashna Hai' also had three women characters in the centre and this time too she is banking upon Esha Deol to deliver the magic.
