New Delhi: Nokia has announced the launch of its 41 megapixel cameraphone - Lumia 1020 - in India. The smartphone will be available in India starting October 11 and the price of the smartphone will be revealed on October 10, a day before the phone hits the store shelves.
While the company has not announced the price of the smartphone, but it has revealed the prices of the accessories designed for the Lumia 1020. The Nokia Camera Grip will cost Rs 7,500 and the wireless charging shell will be available for Rs 3,200.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 is equipped with a 41-megapixel camera which is said to record more details than other camera phones and even tops point-and-shoot cameras. More pixels mean more sensors for capturing the light that forms an image. It has a 4.5-inch AMOLED WXGA (1280x768) display and includes a 2.5 D sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and 2GB of RAM, the Lumia 1020 runs Microsoft's Windows phone 8. It also has a HD 1.2 megapixel wide angle front camera. The Lumia 1020 comes with a 2000 mAh battery.
It does not include built-in wireless charging, but it supports wireless charging via an attachable cover. The phone has 32GB of internal memory, and the company is also offering 7GB free SkyDrive cloud storage.
The phone will be available in yellow, white and black. Using a new feature called dual capture, the Nokia Lumia 1020 simultaneously takes a high resolution 38 megapixel image, and creates a 5 megapixel picture that is easy to share to social networks with Windows Phone 8.
The Nokia Lumia 1020's 41 megapixel sensor features Zeiss optics with six physical lenses with optical image stabilisation.
