Among men like myself there is always ‘That guy.’ The guy that steals the attention of your girlfriend or totally blocks you from getting other girls. That guy who is just a little more fun than you, the guy who can give just a little more attention or a little more energy into getting to girls. Why? Well, because he doesn’t have a girlfriend, and instead of focusing his attention on his own girl, he spends in on other girls that are committed to other dudes.He is that guy who makes your girlfriend not appreciate your dedication and perseverance.That guy is the single man in the city.There is always this one guy among your friends who, for whatever reason, is always single. Instead of trying to get his own chick, he is extra friendly to your girlfriend and does things like ‘hanging out’ or ‘just getting coffee’ with your girlfriend.Something that seems innocuous on the surface, but is the oldest cloak and dagger trick in the book.As a matter of fact, these are things that would kill for, but instead you are reduced to going out to movies and boring dinner dates.Why can’t you just do the old, fun stuff that you first started doing when you were dating? Well, it’s because that has gotten stale and the single man is riding the tide of fun, unassuming acquaintanceship that comes without commitment or dedication.However, not all jackals are the same, and this is where he either gains your acceptance or your rejection. In order to be accepted into any dudes social circle, you must have the dude understanding. It’s a subtle understanding between all men that goes back from the days of the very cradle of civilisation.The understanding in which a man knows when another man is giving the hint saying, “Back off my chick, dude.” Sometimes, your fellow dude will respect this and preserve the delicate balance between the single man and the one with a girlfriend, but sometimes, he doesn’t.This reckless, desperado has plagued humankind forever, and is the sole reason for epics like the Trojan War, King Kong and Harry Potter.What can you do with this guy? Well, you can’t straight tell him off like you would like to because no one will back you and will instead get the sympathy of most of the girls in your circle, namely your girlfriend.Instead, you would come off as the jerk, forever solidifying his position as the victim and the nice guy.Unfortunately, there really is no solution to the single man problem, one must instead persevere once again, and prove to your lady that you are the one that she wants to be with. And in the end, you get to take her home anyway.
