Chennai: Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who was discharged from a hospital in Singapore on Wednesday, greeted Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on her assuming office and said the state had been 'saved' after she won the April 13 assembly polls by a massive mandate.
"The 61-year-old actor greeted Jayalalithaa, saying the state had been 'saved' after she won the April 13 polls by a massive mandate against DMK, thus becoming Chief Minister for the third time," a government press release said here today.
Rajinikanth told the Chief Minister he has been discharged from hospital and had returned to his place of stay.He said he wanted to speak to her first after being discharged," it said.
Jayalalithaa expressed happiness over his recovery and wanted him to come back to Chennai at the earliest, it said.
The actor's wife Latha also spoke to the Chief Minister, the release added.
Rajinikanth, who had not been keeping well for sometime, was hospitalised in Chennai twice for different health conditions, including respiratory problems and was later shifted to Singapore for treatment for a reported kidney ailment.
