Traffic diversion on Rajaji-Chittoor road

KOCHI: The traffic on the Rajaji-Chittoor Road has been diverted for another six days owing to the repair work undertaken by the PWD. The traffic on this stretch has been diverted through the MG Road. Rajaji-Chittoor Road stretch, which has been a nightmare for drivers and pedestrians will be repaired within six days.  Many drivers, who were unaware of the repair work, had a difficult time as they were caught in traffic blocks. Owing to the diversion of traffic, there was heavy rush on MG Road. Vehicles were queuing up on  Alapatt, Jos and South Junctions. The traffic police were deployed in various junctions to ease the traffic.According to traffic police CI M M Stalin, the police had been posted at various junctions on MG Road to smoothen the traffic. “The work is expected to continue for another six days and the buses plying on the Chittoor Road will be diverted through MG Road. On weekdays the rush will be at its peak in the morning and evening. But the police are working overtime to ease the traffic congestion,” Stalin said.
