Lucknow: Two people were crushed to death by a car that was a part of Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari's convoy in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur district, police said on Saturday.
"We have registered a case against Manoj Tiwari following the incident that took place in Gorakhpur on Friday night," Deputy Superintendent of Police S Ali told IANS.
The victims, identified as Arjun and Raj Kumar from Unwal village in Gorakhpur, were on a motorcycle when they were reportedly knocked down by one of the cars in the actor's convoy on Friday night, Ali said.
Tiwari is the Samajwadi Party nominee for the Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat. Gorakhpur is around 270 km from Lucknow.
"We have initiated an inquiry into the case. Action would be taken only after the inquiry is completed," Ali said.
