HYDERABAD: In yet another catch, West Zone police on Sunday caught two drug peddlers trying to sell cocaine in the posh Banjara Hills area. 25 grams of the narcotic substance was seized from them.Acting on a tip-off, police arrested 28-year-old Syed Sarfaroz alias Pappu and 30-year-old Shaukat Mallik, both belonging to Malakpet at the road no 10, Banjara Hills on Sunday afternoon. The duo were travelling on two bikes when they were caught with 25 grams of cocaine and two mobile phones.Police sources said, the buyers’ list of the nabbed duo include some influential people and pub-hoppers. One of the accused was earlier arrested on similar charges but he again started selling cocaine after his release. According to police, Sarfaraz procured the cocaine from a Mumbai-based person Rolano and selling it to his known customers here. Cocaine is being sold at around `4,000 per gm with help of agents which include Shaukat, police said.“Analysing their call particulars, our preliminary investigation revealed the cocaine is being sold to some prominent personalities, models and fashion designers in the city,” a police officer said. However, no phone numbers of film stars were found in the list of contacts, sources said.Cases under various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were registered against the duo and they would be produced before a court on Monday.According to police, Sarfaraz was arrested and remanded to judicial custody by Banjara Hills police in October 2010 along with a Kenyan national Steveroxy and Hyder Raza and 140 grams of cocaine recovered. Sarfaraz, however, managed to secure a bail in January this year and again started drug peddling, police said.
