Two Revenue Department officials suspended in Yanam

A CBI probe has also been inprogress, the source said.Meanwhile, opposition AIADMK urged Prime Minister ManmohanSingh to intervene immediately and scrap the sanction the Centre had accordedto the Flood Bank Management scheme for Yanam region, as the proposals for thefunds were forged and and there were several irregularities in it.AIADMK leader in the Puducherry Assembly A Anbalagan toldreporters that the scheme was prepared by Puducherry government with the"directions of some political bigwigs" and involved an expenditure ofRs 140 crore.He said Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader P Kannanhad brought to the notice of the House the scams involved in the implementationof the scheme and had sought a probe into the irregularities.Anbalagan said that he had appealed to the Prime Minister toorder a comprehensive probe in the implemenation of the scheme.first published:January 01, 1970, 05:30 ISTlast updated:January 01, 1970, 05:30 IST
