New Delhi: Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, will attend the inauguration of Zayed-Gandhi Digital Museum in Manarat Sl Saadiyat on Thursday during her two-day visit to UAE.
The opening of the digital museum comes as part of celebrations of the birth centenary of UAE's Father of Nation Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Swaraj will co-chair the 12th session of the India-UAE Joint Commission Meeting for Economic and Technical Cooperation along with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
According to a report In the Khaleej Times, Swaraj will later address a public gathering at India Social and Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi.
Ahead of her Monday visit, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement, which said: "India and the UAE enjoy strong bonds of friendship, which are founded on millennia-old cultural, religious and economic interaction between the two regions. In the recent past, with the exchange of visits at the highest-level, the relationship has been elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership."
Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri told Khaleej Times that the aim of the visit is to strengthen bilateral relations in various sectors. "Her visit is an important opportunity to continue our dialogue at the highest levels of government, to share views on major regional and global issues and to give a further boost to our comprehensive strategic partnership.
"Her visit comes after the landmark visit of the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah to India in June, two visits by Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, managing director of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit in February, as well as numerous other engagements at the ministerial and senior official levels," Suri added.
December 2, 2018, that is, today, marks the UAE’s 47th National Day and the Year of Zayed.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at Al Bateen Palace in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, who congratulated him on the occasion.
