UDUPI: The temple city of Udupi is all set for the Paryaya festivities marking the take over of Pooja rights of lord Krishna, at Srikrishna Temple, by the Sode Mutt pontiff Vishwavallabha Theertha here on Wednesday morning. It is the first Paryaya festival for Vishwavallabha Theertha, who received sanyas at the age of 16 in the year 2006.The festival, to be marked by the ascending of Sarvajna Peetah, handing over Akshaya Patre by the outgoing pontiff Laxmivara Theertha of Shiroor Mutt, also empowers Vishwavallabha with all administrative powers of Srikrishna Temple for the next two years.Prior to ascending the Sarvajna Peetah, Vishwavallabha Theertha will have a sacred dip in the Danda Theertha lake near Kaup on Wednesday and leave to Jodukatte (near Udupi) at 3 am, from where he will be escorted to the Car Street in a grand procession.The procession will consist of Tableau depicting art, culture and heritage of Udupi, Ashta Mutts, traditions of Sode Vadiraja Mutt, its deities and achievements, including Kalinga Mardana, Bhootaraja, Hayagreeva, Nagavalli, a model of Sode Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology etc. A laser light show has been organised at Jodukatte prior to the starting of the procession.On Tuesday, a fireworks show has been organised at the Krishna Temple. After ascending sarvajna peetah at 6.20 am, Vishwavallabha Theertha will participate in the Paryaya Darbar meeting at Rajangana, from 7 am, where other Matadhpaties will also join him.Cultural programmes at Rajangana will begin as early as 4 am, Rathnakumar added.
