MADURAI: A key aide of Union Minister Alagiri ‘Attack’ Pandi was arrested in Madurai on Friday.Just two days back two main supporters of Union Minister Alagiri, S R Gopi and Thalapathy were booked in a land grab case.According to police sources, one Kalpana along with her husband had leased out their prime property in Thirumalai Naicker Palace area to one Balan in 2004. The lease agreement was entered for 3 years for the 900 sq ft building. After one-and-a-half-years, Balan had sub-leased the land to one Marimuthu, cousin of ‘Attack’ Pandi.Marimuthu at a later stage had prepared fabricated documents to show that he had rented out the property along with Thiruselvam, a nephew of ‘Attack’ Pandi, and one Chinnasamy. As the lease had expired, the actual lessee Balan was paid the full amount in 2007.However, Balan was least bothered to terminate the sub-leaser, which he had entered upon without the solicitation of the original lessor. Balan then ganged up with the others named as the tenants in the rental agreement and intimidated the lessor stating that they would not be vacating the property by using the political background of ‘Attack’ Pandi.Unfortunately, the lessor could not make any successful representations to the district administration and the police.Ever since the DMK debacle in the poll, the lessor encouraged by the promises made by AIADMK supremo J Jayalalittaa had filed a fresh complaint.
