Washington/Islamabad: The US and Pakistan on Saturday expressed outrage over the 'brutal terrorist bombings' in Maharashtra's Malegaon town that left 31 people dead and 300 injured, saying that there can be no justification for such 'heinous acts'.
"We are saddened by the brutal terrorist bombings that killed innocent civilians outside a mosque in Malegaon. There can be no justification for such heinous acts," US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said in a statement.
"We offer our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed in the attack and wish for a speedy recovery for those injured," he said.
"There have been far too many terrorist attacks on Indian soil. The US is fully supportive of the Indian Government and the Indian people and considers itself a full partner with India in its fight against terrorism," the spokesman said.
Condemning the multiple blasts, Pakistan expressed the hope that Indian Government would bring the culprits to book.
Pakistan condemns terrorism and extremism in all forms, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said reacting to the Malegaon blasts. He hoped the Indian Government will punish those found guilty of the bomb attacks.
Asserting that Pakistan is for peace in the region, Aziz said with India it requires the resolution of all issues, including the Kashmir problem. He hoped the upcoming meeting between President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Havana on the sidelines of the NAM Summit will help take the peace process forward.
