New Delhi: Barack Obama's 10 year old daughter Malia is getting famous. A zoo has named a giraffe 'Malia' sparking off a controversy in New York.
Many are outraged at the naming of the giraffe after the President's daughter, saying the move is offensive.
Zoo officials say 'Malia' the giraffe, is the first daughter of the Zoo's female giraffe and it is timely to name one fist daughter after the other.
They also insist that it was born close to the inauguration date to get that name. Many animals in the zoo have been named after celebrities like Clint Eastwood and Goldie Hawn.
People are calling on the zoo authorities to retract the name.
