Replete with themes of friendship, fear of commitment, infidelity and fake orgasms, the film is a rom-com, with deeper nuances.

Probably one of the most-loved movies of all time, 'When Harry Met Sally' bust a lot of myths around friendship, love, and relationships in an engaging, endearing manner. The film, which turns 25 this year, was directed by Rob Reiner and written by the legendary Norah Ephron.

Starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal, the 1989 film was way ahead of its time. Replete with themes of friendship between opposite sex, fear of commitment, infidelity and fake orgasms, 'When Harry Met Sally' is essentially a rom-com, with much deeper nuances.

But what about these themes in the Indian cinema? While we are much more comfortable in portraying basic, earthy issues, friendship is usually reduced to an underlying or a secondary theme in a film. But in recent years, many films such as, 'Rang De Basanti', 'Dil Chahta Hai' and 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' have dealt with the subject of friendship with the opposite sex.

In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of 'When Harry Met Sally', here is a compilation of famous quotes and scenes from the film. We have compared them with mainstream Bollywood films and have found that apart from the 'treatment' of the subject, Indian films seem to agree with their Hollywood counterparts.

1) "Men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way."

In 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', while Kajol develops more than friend-type feelings for Shah Rukh Khan, he, in his mind, has totally friendzoned her.

2) "It is so nice when you can sit with someone and not have to talk."

In the film 'New York', the three leading actors John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif have a similar equation. For a while.

3) "The third time we met, we became friends. We were friends for a long time. And then we weren't; and then we fell in love."

In the film 'Dil Chahta Hai', Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta sort of go through the same transition.

4) "You know, you may be the first attractive woman I've not wanted to sleep with in my entire life."

Well, that's how it starts out for 'binness' partners Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh in the film, 'Band Baaja Baraat'.

5) "It's just different. It's a whole different perspective. I get the woman's point of view on things. She tells me about the men she desires and I can talk to her about the women that I see. And the great thing is, I don't have to lie, because I am not always thinking about how to get her into bed. I can just be myself."

In the film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', the lead actors Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza are BFFs. College, exams, hanging out, more friends and partying abound, in the film, they don't have time to think about other things. It works for them. For a while.
