New Delhi: A woman Army officer in Punjab is facing charges for alleged illegal gains and acts damaging to the order and the discipline of the military.

Major Dimple Singla of Judge Advocate Generals (JAG) branch of the force will be tried by the General Court Martial (GCM) on alleged graft charges, official sources were quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Singla is accused of demanding and accepting bribe from an Army personnel facing court martial so as to influence the trial in their favour.

Sources said that after a recent Court of Inquiry (CoI), the officer was found to be taking bribes from personnel to influence the trial during the court martial proceedings of an individual.

In May last year, Indian Air Force Flying Officer in Bangalore, Anjali Gupta was court martialled services after being charged under the Air Force Act.
