Mumbai: Actor Shahid Kapoor, who is going to host the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, says he does not like taking personal digs at industry friends and colleagues. Shahid had earlier hosted Filmfare awards alongwith Shahrukh Khan. IIFA awards would be held in Singapore, from June 7 to 9.
"I think it is possible to entertain and make people laugh without taking digs or getting personal. I think people get very personal ...I don't like that part of hosting," Shahid told reporters here.
"Just because the mike is in your hand...it does not mean you can say anything. It is important to entertain people, crack jokes, but not in that way."
The IIFA awards were earlier hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Boman Irani. "Riteish and Boman did a good job. Like even Ranbir and Imran were funny while hosting Filmfare awards. Everyone has their own way to entertain and I have my own," Shahid said.
IIFA is always on entertainment quotient. Besides choreographing dance sequences for Bipasha Basu, Sonakshi Sinha and Shahid Kapoor, choreographer-turned-director Prabhu Deva himself would be performing at the 13th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards this year.
Shahid would be hosting the awards for the first time. "It is a great platform for me to host and perform. I am nervous," Shahid said.
Besides him, Bipasha, Sonakshi and singer Mika would also perform at the award ceremony next month.
The 13th IIFA awards will be held at Singapore from June 7 to 9.
"I would be choreographing for everyone at IIFA. And also I would be performing. I am nervous...I am tensed but I will do my best," Prabhu Deva told reporters here, at the IIFA press conference.
Bipasha said, "I am not a trained dancer...but I am energetic. I hope I manage to perform on Prabhu Deva's dance steps."
