BHUBANESWAR: The Ninth Congress of the CPI (ML) on Wednesday called for a revolution by mobilising the people to capture the political power in the country. On the second day of the Congress, the party exhorted that the working class must take the lead in the revolution. A worker-peasant alliance has to be forged. All those classes which are against imperialism, their Indian partners and land-owning classes must unite to take up the people’s democratic revolution. The party programme also laid out tasks for the democratic government which would give people the right to recall and elect executive officers such as judges, police and military personnel. Besides, religion will have to be removed from all the aspects of state and caste system  annihilated. Implementation of six-hour working day, redistribution of lands on the basis of land to the tiller, equal rights to women and establishment of autonomous rule for Adivasis are also part of the party’s programme.Besides forming a new Constitution, amendments were also taken up for discussion. Later, a seminar on ‘Communist approach to questions on Dalits, Adivasis, minorities and women’ was held. The speakers highlighted the exploitation of the women in the neo-colonial phase and how the people’s democratic revolution can bring about socialism in India.
