Youth crushed under festival chariot

PALAKKAD: Tragedy struck on the second day of the Kalpathy car festival when a 21-year-old youth, Navaneeth Krishnan, son of Venkateswaran of Vaidyanathapuram, died when he accidentally fell down while pulling the chariot and got entangled beneath the wheels.The incident occurred at 7.15 pm while Navaneeth was pulling the chariot of Mahaganpathy of the Manthakara Mahaganapathy temple near Kundambalam. Navaneeth slipped and fell beneath the wheels and was seriously injured. Though he was rushed to the District Hospital, he died on the way.The father of Navaneeth, Venkateswaran, was a railway employee. Vineet was a student of the NSS Engineering College, Palakkad. He is survived by his father, mother Lalitha and sister Veena.
