In 2013, Vitthal Shankar Avasthi of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Rampal Soni of INC by a margin of 46,116 votes which was 32.61% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 64.76% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Vitthal Shankar Avasthi of BJP won this seat beating Om Prakash Naraniwal of INC by a margin of 17,277 votes which was 15.98% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 55.04% in the seat.
