Rajasthan Election 2023: Public Sab Jaanti Hai, Says Meghwal on Gehlot-Pilot Show of Unity | Exclusive

The people of Rajasthan have only received financial jeopardy, atrocities on Dalits and crimes against women under the Congress rule, Union minister and senior BJP leader Arjun Ram Meghwal said in an exclusive interview to News18.

Expressing confidence that the BJP will win Rajasthan election 2023, Meghwal said the façade of unity put up by Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot is also evident to the voters. “Wasn’t this the same Sachin Pilot who took out a protest rally against his own government that is embroiled in a scam,” he said.

How confident are you of the BJP’s chances in the upcoming elections?

The people of Rajasthan have made up their mind that they need to bring the BJP to power with an overwhelming majority and that is soon going to become a fact.

Why no CM face then? Why hasn’t the party made that announcement yet?

Who says we do not have a leader? Our leader everywhere is the kamal (lotus), our party symbol.

The Opposition is asking why there is carpet bombing by top BJP leaders even though the party is confident of a win?

It is part of our organisation system. We are a disciplined party. Our leaders are engaged in various programmes, right from rallies to meetings and that has been part of our strategy since long.

A host of freebies have been announced by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his government. Will it have any bearing on the election result?

All that has been guaranteed in the last five years by the Ashok Gehlot government is the delivery of bad governance. The worst part was that there were two power centres — Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot. The only thing that the people of Rajasthan got was financial jeopardy, atrocities on the Dalits and crimes against women. Promises of susashan (good governance) were exchanged with kusashan (bad governance).

You think Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot can still be seen as a united force? There has been a demand for a joint rally by both leaders too.

The way Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot conducted themselves is very evident to the people of Rajasthan. Public sab jaanti hai (The people know everything). Wasn’t this the same Sachin Pilot who took out a protest rally against his own government that is embroiled in a scam. That says it all.
