Stray Kids unexpectedly revealed on Instagram Live that they will be attending the Met Gala in 2024. Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N., the eight members of the K-Pop boy band, made their red carpet debut together at the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Naturally, they had to do it in style. The next generation of K-pop leaders showed up to the event as Tommy Hilfiger guests, donning matching ensembles created by the fashion designer.

The group walked the red carpet wearing overcoats before displaying their distinctive looks underneath. Every personalised ensemble embodied Tommy Hilfiger’s Classic American Cool aesthetic, with preppy tuxedo-inspired styles.

The group’s overarching sartorial colour palette was red, white and blue, a reference to Tommy Hilfiger’s DNA.

Stray Kids’ leader, Bang Chan, donned a traditional blue three-piece wool suit with red piping around the edges and a gold flower pin at the lapel, peeking out from under their patriotic jackets. Felix was dressed entirely in white, wearing a silk suit that matched the dress code well thanks to its beautiful floral embroidery.

The group’s dance and visual line members Hyunjin and Lee Know chose red clothing. Hyunjin wore a red double-breasted suit with gold crested buttons, while Lee Know donned a red double-breasted jacket with red buttonhole detailing on the lapels.

Rappers Han and Changbin, meanwhile, matched in their button-up shirts. Finished with a gold flower button at the top, the shirts showcased a transparent iconic Tommy Hilfiger Ithaca stripe. I.N. and Seungmin completed the octet by dressing in satin suits to go with their cotton tops.

Seungmin, a lifelong Hilfiger admirer, found the evening to be an incredible experience. “Tommy Hilfiger was a brand that I loved growing up, so it’s unreal to me that I grew up to become the model for the brand and even attend the Met Gala as its ambassador. It is such a great honour,” he told Vogue.

This year’s dress code–The Garden of Time–is inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story of the same name from 1962. It goes well with Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, the newest Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which opened to the public on May 10.
