The anticipation for Maha Shivaratri is palpable among Lord Shiva devotees, as they prepare to celebrate the significant Hindu festival at the end of this week. Maha Shivaratri, an annual event honouring Lord Shiva, marks his marriage anniversary and symbolises the triumph of light over darkness. Falling on Friday, March 8, this year, the occasion holds immense spiritual significance for followers.
Devotees believe that prayers offered on Maha Shivaratri can dispel ignorance and bring enlightenment into their lives. With the auspicious day fast approaching, many seek guidance on performing rituals to invoke Lord Shiva’s blessings. Bhopal-based astrologer and Vastu consultant, Pandit Hitendra Kumar Sharma, sheds light on a specific remedy believed to bring profound benefits.
According to Pandit Sharma, performing a precise ritual at midnight on Maha Shivaratri can purportedly address various challenges in one’s life. The ritual entails plucking a Datura flower and visiting a nearby Shiva temple just before midnight. At the stroke of midnight, devotees offer the Datura flower to Lord Shiva on the Shivling within the temple premises. The flower is left on the Shivling for half an hour, while devotees chant the sacred mantra, “Shree Shivay Namastubhyam.”
Following the half-hour chanting session, devotees retrieve the flower from the Shivling at 12:30 AM and take it home. The Datura flower is then wrapped in a red cloth and placed in a chosen location, such as one’s home, office, study, or farm, by 4:00 AM. It is believed that this act of devotion pleases Lord Shiva, inviting success and prosperity into one’s life.
This ritual is considered beneficial for individuals facing challenges in their professional or personal lives, including work-related issues or agricultural setbacks. By invoking Lord Shiva’s blessings through this ritual, devotees seek guidance and assistance in overcoming obstacles and achieving success.
As Maha Shivaratri approaches, devotees eagerly prepare to engage in rituals and prayers to honour Lord Shiva and seek his divine grace. With faith and devotion, they hope to harness the auspicious energies of this sacred occasion to usher in positivity and prosperity in their lives.
