25 Years Of Taal: Anil Kapoor Reveals Farah Khan Walked Out Of Subhash Ghai Film At Last Minute
Farah Khan, who was initially supposed to choreograph Ramta Jogi, stepped out at the last minute for unknown reasons.

Starring Aishwarya Rai, Akshaye Khanna, Amrish Puri and Anil Kapoor, Taal was released 25 years back on this day. To mark the milestone, Anil Kapoor dropped a post on Instagram, sharing several anecdotes from the shooting of the film. The Subhash Ghai directorial garnered immense love for cinephiles along with several awards for its actors. In his post, Anil Kapoor wrote, “25 years ago, I had the privilege of being a part of a cinematic masterpiece that still resonates with audiences today – ‘Taal’. My portrayal of Vikrant Kapoor was an unforgettable moment in my career, and I’m forever grateful to Subhash Ghai for believing in me.”

Further taking a trip down memory lane, the veteran actor shared an interesting story about the song Ramta Jogi. Farah Khan, who was initially supposed to choreograph the song, opted out at the last minute for unknown reasons. Later, Saroj Khan walked into the scene to save the day.

Sharing the anecdote, he wrote, “Ramta Jogi is one of my favourite songs from the film but what makes it truly special is the incredible story behind it – Farah Khan was originally supposed to choreograph the song, but she opted out at the last minute! Saroj Khan, the legendary choreographer, stepped in just a night before the shoot at Filmistan. And I, being the enthusiastic actor I am, did the song with no rehearsals at all!”

Reflecting on the recognition that he got following his role in Taal, Anil Kapoor shared that he bagged all major awards including Filmfare, Zee, IIFA and Screen Awards. The pictures attached to the post showcase a glimpse of young Anil Kapoor from the sets of Taal, while Aishwarya Rai is a delightful surprise in the frames included in the carousel.

Taal, upon its release in 1999, broke several records, making it a groundbreaking film. The engaging storyline and enthralling music by legendary artist AR Rahman were the heart and soul of the movie.

On the work front, Anil Kapoor is basking in love for his role in Savi, starring Divya Khosla Kumar. The film, directed by Abhinay Deo, is an action-drama, based on the American action-thriller The Next Three Days.
