Singer Chinmayi Sripada known for her famous songs in the South industry as well as Bollywood has revealed the harassment that happened to her. She also mentioned the name of the lyricist while writing a post on X. The Tamil poet and lyricist Vairamuthu harassed Chinmayi and she has made serious allegations against him
She wrote in her post, “I have been harassed by a lyricist, Padma Award winner, Sahitya Akademi Award for Tamil Writers and multiple national award winner”. She continues to say that three other women took his name with her in front of the media. It’s been more than six years and still has not got any justice and he is still getting a platform. Major political parties in Tamil Nadu have patronized him.
Chinmayi stated, “I have told many people that Vairamuthu molested me”. All her fans are very much shocked by her revelation and the singer’s post is also going viral.
Six years after she was allegedly sexually harassed by Vairamuthu, singer Chinmayi Sripada is still hopeful for justice. The singer lashed out at the ruling DMK for its “selective support” to those exploited by sexual offenders. Sripada said all political parties were the same and did not speak up against all molesters and harassers. “The person who has the power to ban me is Radha Ravi; he is with the BJP. When he banned me, he was in the DMK and, in solidarity with Vairamuthu, he was prompt about banning me. My case has been going on for almost five years in the civil court,” she added.
Singer Chinmayi has been working in South and Hindi cinema for many years. One of her famous songs is from the movie Sairat and is called Sairat Jhala Ji. Not only this, she has also sung the songs Titli from Chennai Express, Mast Magan from 2 States and Tere Bina. All of her songs are highly appreciated and loved by her fans.
