New Delhi: The jury of the 63rd National Film Awards today announced the list of winners from the Hindi and regional movies, with popular names taking home the most prestigious award.

‘Baahubali’ wins Best Film: Directed by SS Rajamouli and released in 2015, ‘Bahubali’ became a global phenomenon in the purest sense of the word courtesy its mesmerizing visual appeal and compelling screenplay. Shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, the epic drama featured Prabhas in the lead role.

Kangana Ranaut wins Best Actress: The wonder woman of Bollywood may not have had that great a year as she had in 2014, but Kangana’s act as Kusum Sangwan in Anand L Rai’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ left an indelible impact on our minds. From getting the right diction to having a different body language for the two distinct characters she played, Kangana outshone everyone in the film.

Amitabh Bachchan wins Best Actor: Amitabh Bachchan played AN irritable, hypochondriac Bhaskor Banerjee to perfection in Shoojit Sircar's 'Piku'. A slice of life film, Big B played father to Deepika Padukone's character.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali wins Best Director: There are a few things one has come to take for granted in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film: a stunning visual aesthetic, immaculately choreographed songs, and an imposing sense of scale. One couldn't help being overwhelmed by Sudeep Chatterjee’s eye-watering frames, and the elegant production design. Bhansali delivered a film that’s artistic, grand and compelling at the same time.
