Fans can’t keep calm as Abhay Deol announced his next project. The actor, in an Instagram post, confirmed he is working on an international project co-starring an Australian actress Natasha Bassett, popular for her role in Elvis. The post features a screenshot of a news report about the upcoming project. It reads that Abhay and Natasha have joined hands for the romantic comedy, Don’t You Be My Neighbor, directed by Harry Grewal.
“Very excited to announce this project, this script took me back to the late 80’s and early 90’s era of the Rom-Com. Excited to work with the lovely and talented Natasha Bassett and director Harry Grewal,” read the captions.
Reacting to the post, Preity Zinta extended her heartfelt wishes and wrote, “All the best. Looking forward to it.” Renowned director Zoya Akhtar also shared her excitement. She wrote, “Yay! How lovely.”
Don’t You Be My Neighbor will portray an unusual connection between Jay (Abhay Deol) and Emily (Natasha Bassett), who have different perspectives on love and life. As per the synopsis, the duo work through their contrasting beliefs and life experiences while also allowing themselves to explore various possibilities. As per the Deadline, the principal photography for the film will begin around Seattle in the US next month.
“We are excited to bring this lighthearted and thought-provoking story to life. Abhay Deol and Natasha Bassett bring their immense talent and dedication to the lead roles, making them perfect for these characters,” said director Harry Grewal told the publication.
Producer Raman Palta also added as he said that the film will “resonate with audiences as it delves into the heartache of losing love and the joy of finding it again.”
Abhay Deol– known for films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dev D and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! –will next be seen with Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman and Lin Laishram in Bun Tikki.
