Amitabh Bachchan, the legendary Bollywood actor, frequently shares fascinating stories from his life and career on the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which is currently airing its 16th season. In a recent episode, contestant Pranati Paidipati posed an intriguing question to Bachchan, asking whether he ever checks price tags before making a purchase. In response, Bachchan recounted an incident from his time in London, where a shopkeeper misjudged his purchasing power, leading to an unexpected response.
Reflecting on the question, the actor explained that checking price tags is a common habit. Sharing his experience, he said, “We were just shopping around, and I happened to be looking at a tie, when the shopkeeper, with a dismissive tone, said it cost 120 pounds.”
Recalling his reaction, Bachchan continued, “I looked right back at him and responded, ‘Pack ten of these for me.’” He emphasized the importance of maintaining dignity and confidence, saying, “It’s moments like these that remind me of the importance of showing our Indian spirit and confidence, even when faced with condescension. We sometimes need to make it clear that we are not to be underestimated.”
In the same episode, Bachchan also shared a humorous story about his fear of cockroaches. He narrated how he once tried to trap a cockroach in a bottle filled with insecticide, only for it to escape a week later. Laughing about the incident, he remarked, “Woh toh marte hin nanhi hai (They just do not die).”
Season 16 of Kaun Banega Crorepati premiered on August 12 and airs every weekday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television. Amitabh Bachchan has been the host of KBC since its inception in 2000, except for the third season, which superstar Shah Rukh Khan hosted. Season 16 of the show airs on Sony TV
