Anasuya Bharadwaj's Simbaa Finds Success On OTT Despite Box Office Failure
Simbaa marks the directorial debut of Murali Manohar Reddy, under the banners of Sampath Nandi Team Works and Raj Dasari Productions.

The recent flooding in the Telugu states has starkly illustrated the potential for natural disasters to wreak havoc. The film Simbaa addresses the theme of environmental conservation, emphasizing the necessity of safeguarding nature to ensure its endurance alongside human existence. The movie revolves around the concept ‘Vruksho Rakshati Rakshitah, which translates to ‘If you protect the trees, they will, in turn, protect you.’ Simbaa marks the directorial debut of Murali Manohar Reddy, under the banners of Sampath Nandi Team Works and Raj Dasari Productions. The film boasts an impressive cast, with Anasuya Bhardwaj, Jagapathi Babu, Vasishta, and Srinath taking on key roles.

While the film was unanimously appreciated by the critics for its social commentary, like many message-oriented films, the movie could not earn much at the box office and emerged as a flop commercially. In recent times, we have seen many films that do not do well at the box office find newfound success after its OTT release. Similarly, Simbaa has experienced a resurgence on OTT platforms, trending for the past ten days. The film is not available on just one but two OTT platforms. Available on Amazon Prime and Aha, it has climbed to the Top 6 on Amazon Prime. The film’s impactful dialogues and scenes have significantly contributed to its success, especially given the current heightened awareness of environmental issues. Its OTT debut has been well-received, and audiences appreciate its compelling message and visionary storytelling. Despite the constant influx of new releases, Simbaa continues to stand out, demonstrating that meaningful cinema thrives in the digital space.

Anasuya Bharadwaj was seen in the role of a teacher and her sincere performance was appreciated a lot. But it was Jagapathi Babu who fans believed overacted in the film and got trolled brutally for it. The revenge drama had some emotional moments that clicked but it could not pull audiences to the theatre.
