The annual music festival, Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, will take place from April 11 to 13 and 18 to 20, 2025, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Paul Tollett, the festival’s founder and long-time promoter, has started his hunt to secure the headliners for 2025. He set his sights on two of the biggest names in music: American rapper Kendrick Lamar and Barbadian singer Rihanna. According to a report by Bloomberg, both renowned artists have declined the offer to perform at the film festival.
Lamar, who performed on the main stage in 2012 and headlined the festival in 2017, will be performing at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. Following this, he is going to embark on a tour of the major stadiums, which means he wouldn’t be able to make time for Coachella, given his focus on his tour.
Meanwhile, Rihanna has put her music career on the back burner and is now more focused on expanding her business empire, which includes her popular beauty brand, Fenty Beauty. She perhaps doesn’t need the exposure or the money a Coachella set would bring.
As soon as the news got out, people on the internet started sharing their opinions on it, with some even highlighting how the music festival has lost its charm. A person wrote, “They have better things to do. Coachella is a ghetto mess now.” Another one noted, “That’s a bummer! Kendrick and Rihanna would’ve been epic headliners for Coachella. It’s always tough when big names turn down those kinds of gigs..” Someone else said, “Omg, that’s kinda wild. I was so hyped for Kendrick and Riri!”

In other news, fans of K-pop girl band BLACKPINK are excited, as media reports suggest that Lisa might headline the prestigious Coachella music festival in 2025. If the 27-year-old decides to grace the iconic stage, it would be her first time as a solo artist. While many are really excited about the news, others are sceptical of her performance due to her lip-syncing controversies in the recent past.
In recent years, Coachella has given K-pop artists a global stage. While there is no confirmation on whether BLACKPINK’s Lisa would debut as a solo artist on the iconic stage of Coachella, in August, a viral social media post suggested that K-pop girl groups NewJeans and Aespa are going to perform in the 2025 edition of the film festival.
