Darshan’s Kaatera released to positive reviews last year and turned out to be a big success at the box office. It turned out to be the highest grossing Kannada film of the year. It also became the seventh highest grossing Kannada film of all time. The Tharun Sudhir-directed movie has recently completed 100 days of its release. On the occasion of its centenary, producer Rockline Venkatesh held a press meeting at Rockmall where he made a grand announcement. He said that in order to celebrate 100 days of the film’s release, he along with Darshan and director Tharun are gifting cars to three members of the film’s unit.
Screenwriter Jadesh Kumar Hampi, dialogue writer Maasti and actor Suraj were gifted Maruti Swifts each as acknowledgement of their dedication and conviction towards the making of Kaatera. In the press conference, Venkatesh also talked about an accident that Suraj met with right before the release of the film, due to which he lost a leg.
In the press conference, Venkatesh was also asked if Kaatera 2 was in the pipeline since the film met with commercial and critical success. The producer said that as of now, there were no plans in making a sequel. Talking about the car Rockline Venkatesh gave to the artists, the starting price of the Maruti Swift car is Rs 624,451 ex-showroom, while the on-road price is Rs 7,57,226. Its other variants are more expensive.
Kaatera is currently streaming on Zee5 in Kannada with English subtitles. Just like its theatrical response, its OTT run has also been successful with the film getting a good response from the audience. The film revolves around the titular character played by Darshan, who is a blacksmith by profession and his endeavour to save the farmers of his village from the feudal landlords. The film also stars Aradhana Ram and Jagapathi Babu.
