Diljit Dosanjh Feels He Wasn't A Deserving Candidate For Coachella: 'It Was God's Will'
Diljit Dosanjh addressed his historic performance at Coachella last year that saw a lineup of international artists like BLACKPINK and Charlie XCX.

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is basking in the glory of his recent film, ‘Crew,’ where his brief but captivating cameo stole the spotlight. Known for his hit song ‘Lover’ and for making waves at last year’s Coachella festival, Diljit has humbly downplayed his own success.

During a revealing interview on The Ranveer Show, Diljit opened up about his historic Coachella performance, expressing doubts about his own merit for such an esteemed event. “Although I wasn’t a deserving candidate. I feel so. It was God’s will. I knew it (Coachella) was big and for the first time, someone from India was going to perform there. It was a huge deal,” he shared during a conversation with Beer Biceps.

Despite his rising global fame in music and film, Diljit considers his talents to be modest. He admitted on the podcast that despite lacking formal training in music and acting, fortune has favored him with incredible opportunities. “I feel like I’m not that great a musician, but I end up getting good opportunities. I haven’t learnt acting from anywhere, yet I’m working with Imtiaz Ali. Imtiaz Ali signing Diljit Dosanjh isn’t necessary. There are so many others whom he can hire,” Dosanjh reflected.

Diljit’s Coachella appearance was a historic achievement not just for him, but for Indian culture’s presence on the worldwide music scene. Making a grand entrance in traditional Punjabi dress, he performed on the festival’s first weekend to the excitement of a global audience, sharing the stage with stars like BLACKPINK and Charli XCX. His performance brought Punjabi culture to the forefront at Coachella, featuring hit tracks like ‘G.O.A.T.’ and ‘Patiala Peg,’ and was supported by a live band and bhangra dancers, with notable figures like Diplo enjoying the show.

Looking ahead, Diljit is preparing for the release of his movie ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ and will be seen in ‘No Entry 2,’ continuing to build on his multifaceted career.
