Gracie Abrams is among the most talked-about musicians of 2024. The 24-year-old singer opened for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and described performing with her at London’s Wembley Stadium in June as being “out of body”. Now, the rising pop artist is thinking back on how “scrolling” has become more fun because of the dominance of women in pop like herself.

Acknowledging Charli xcx’s popularity has brought about a shift, Abrams stated in a cover story interview with Who What Wear, “This summer, there’s been something that’s felt oddly reminiscent of earlier days of Instagram, when it felt like the internet was more fun.”

She added: “Everyone’s enjoying scrolling and seeing s—.”

Abrams also notes that women in mainstream music these days “support” one another a great deal.

The artist remarked, “You just are thrilled for everyone.”

She added that other women had been doing this far longer than she had. She referred to them as “icons” and claimed that when you witness them encouraging one another, intimidating spaces instantly become more welcoming.

Abrams also talked about her debut with Swift and said “We wrote it the way that we played it at Wembley.”

Abrams said Taylor has a talent for making it appear as if you and she are the only people in a stadium.

She also discussed how her most recent album, The Secret of Us, was influenced by the Eras Tour.

Given that Swift’s and her fans’ enthusiasm influenced a large portion of the album, Abrams said she was glad she was able to play The Secret of Us on Eras.

The singer confessed that participating in the Eras Tour assisted her in overcoming her stage fright.

Abrams said, “I avoided it at all costs.”

Now, Abrams will be back on stage from September 5 to October 10. She will be performing in American theatres as part of the next tour.
